Tescos Car Insurance!!

Hi,
iam really fuming as i have no idea where i stand with this, so just wanted to ask for some advice.
i passed my driving test last year, and took out insurance with tesco, with my husband as a named driver.
we had an accident in a car park where a car hit us while we were stationary, and theyve claimed against us, saying its our fault.
as no one was admitting liability, i didnt want to claim for my car, as it was only a scratch and didnt need fixing, our excess was about £500 as we are new drivers, and the car isnt worth that.
ive just had my renewal through the post, after thinking this had been dealt with and no claim was being made, stating i have 0 no claims bonus. which makes my insurance about 300 pounds more expensive than it should be, this is apparently because the claim is still outstanding in limbo. i think this is really rotten of tescos, as it was not our fault, and feel we are being punished for it, also we cant go anywhere else, cause again, tescos havent offered us any no claims, so we would be ripped off.
i just dont know what to do, iam so angry, and have been on the phone to tescos every night this week, without any help at all:mad:
seems they dont know whats going on, or if they have paid out for something or not, as they shouldnt have.
any advice would be greatly welcomed!

This is normal procedure. If the claim is settled in your favour your no claims bonus will be reinstated and you should get a refund of some of the premium paid.
As to the claim, it is your word against theirs and Tesco will make their own decision about how to settle it. The may go 50/50 which again means you lose your no claims. Tesco will take the line that costs them least in this sort of situation and I can't see that they are going to spend good money defending this claim.0 -
Hiya
This is normal procedure as bossyboots has said above.
At the moment, the claim is in dispute. They will not reinstate your no claims bonus (or not) unless the claim is settled eiter way.
Harsh as it seems to you thats the way is.
Have you checked confused.com to see if you could get a cheaper quote with 0 no claims?
Hope you get it sorted soon.Baby Ice arrived 17th April 2011. Tired.com! :j0 -
Hi,
thanks for that, they passed it over to a solicitor to deal with, and i havent heard a thing since, i dont think anythings happening with it, or is going to even happen.
the premiums ive found so far range from 900 to nearly 3000 pounds(great fun!)
thanks for the reassurance tho!
does this mean i will not get any no claims with tescos or anywhere till its sorted? ( sorry to sound dim, but ive never dealt with anything like this before, and everytime i phone tescos i get a different answer.)0 -
