last year i think January i had to cancel my sky account mainly because i was out of work. i spoke to a member at sky, explained my situation to them and all they said was i still had to keep paying. so i told them that i had no choice but to cancel the direct debt as it would put me in to debt. i also wrote to them but with now joy, they chased me for a period for the moneys that i owed for the last few months that i hadn't paid up to at that point. this week i have had a company called p.d.c.s text me on thursday and i had a letter come today demanding £103 how do i stand as it's been over a year since i cancelled.:money:

As I understand it you were within your first years contractual period when you stopped paying your Sky bill, they are entitled to hold you to your original contact and collect moneys to cover the full 12 months worth of subscriptions.
At some point if you don't pay the money owed they will trash your credit rating. That gum you like is coming back in style.0 -
sorry forgot to say that i had been with sky for Meany years. i understand that i had signed in to a contract over the phone but because of my surcumstances i had no choice but all they cared about was money it shouldn't be aloud to happen :mad:0

True, folk should understand what a contract is0

If you were already out of your minimum term contract last year, then all you had to do was give 30 days notice and pay the remaining month's sub. Cancelling the DD does not cancel the contract and the debt will accrue.
Of course Sky only care about money, they're a business, not a social service. A change in your financial circumstances does not void your contract. No free lunch, and no free laptop0 -

There is nothing said by the OP to confirm that they were still in minimum term in January '11. However they were already in arrears by several months by the time that they contacted Sky. So it is likely that Sky simply disconnected the service and now (over a year later) they have sold the debt on to a DCA.No free lunch, and no free laptop0
