Wine Companies

Hi,

Not sure if this is the correct part of the forum for this, so let me know where to post it if not here please.

A relative has for many years ordered wine from a couple of companies. All was well whilst they were drinking it on a regular basis. However, now that they are on their own (partner died a few years ago) the wine is building up in the garage.

In addition, there are health issues as they are starting with signs of dementia. On a couple of occasions a family member has been with them and they have phoned the wine companies and told them they don't want/need any more wine. However, the sales people just call back again a few days later and sell them more wine.

How is the best way to stop the wine being sold to them and stop the sales people calling and selling to someone who doesn't need it but may be confused into buying more?

Thanks for any advice that you can give.

If you can get this person to sign a letter stating that they do not wish to purchase any more or receive any more communication then Id do that and send it by recorded delivery to the companies involved. State that you want all communication in writing and not via phone or other means.

Plenty for the rest of the family! :)

From what you say, it may be time to talk to a solicitor as I imagine wine could be the least of your worries if things really deteriorate.

Yes, there are other issues, such as the power of attorney, that need to be sorted but in the short term getting the sales people off their backs and stopping the wine piles increasing in their garage will be a good 1st step...

At some stage, if these suggestions don't work, I might name names in case there are others in the same situation.
