I signed up for the "Essentials Package" from Talk Talk about two weeks ago and they gave me a "go live" date which was yesterday. When I signed up they said that I was to get a new line installed so that I could get broadband and landline access.

I called in the morning to check that the Engineer was still coming and they said he was. I waited in from the time that they said he//she would be here, taking the day off work, and they didn't come. I called to find out why and they said that it was because I didn't need a line fitted and that everything was working fine. Why couldn't they tell me this in the morning?

I am currently on the phone with one guy and he told me he was going to check the calls I had made yesterday. After telling him that they ran two line tests yesterday he took me back off hold to tell me that there was no fault on the line and that they will need to get a callback so that someone can find out where the fault lies.

Surely there is something that I can do? I paid my linerental up front, £114, been waiting two weeks to go live and sick of them already.

I got the call back and they said that they couldn't find a fault. After telling them several times that the line inside my house did not work. An engineer finally came out today and said he had "tested" the line. This involved putting his phone into the socket which obviously never worked. He then spent a good half hour on the phone before deciding that I need a BT engineer out to install a new line.
