Firstly, I have been turned down for PLA for the past 2 years, but Computer says apply at the end of my SF application, so here we go again.

What I need to know is, is my 'income' my SF package, ie my grant and loan, or will they add this onto the income if I state £0?(as I don't work)

Secondly, the blurb says I should income any insurance policies such as household, medical or life assurance. Car insurance? It is essential I drive in September as I will be travelling up to an hour for school placements, so is it worth digging that out?

I assume I do not include childcare in financial commitments, because I will be applying for the Childcare grant?

So I have a Mortgage, Endowment, building and contents insurance, Mortgage payment protection insurance, central heating insurance (?), Car Insurance (?) ...

I have called student finance who have simply said, another department deals with it, so just send in what I think is appropriate. Any advice on what was allowable in your own application would be great.

Can I just ask your age first? Or to be more specific, are you over 25?

Yes I am over 25, and married.

My son is 7 so will attend after school club onsite which is Ofsted registered.

    Thanks Taiko.

You shouldn't need to declare your income in that case as part of the assessment. Entitlement will be based on levels of support you are potentially entitled to.

Central heating insurance is a new one on me, but I'd probably consider that as part of a home insurance and therefore use it to offset any net income for your partner. I wouldn't take car insurance in though, although I've heard rumours that SFE have been. Not convinced myself there's provision in the regulations for that though.

Also, do not include childcare commitments in your outgoings.
