Just got a quote from Tesco Kitchens for £8000 all inclusive (fitting etc) for this type of kitchen: http://www.tescokitchens.com/kitchen-collections/toulouse-kitchen.html
Also states on the quote that it uses 18mm soft close units.

Seems a good price. Homebase and Magnet (quoted over 12k) could not match the price for the same type when I went in store. Units look exactly the same in both. Tesco one is being supplied by Mark Two.

I don't fit enough standard kitchens to be able to give you an accuarte opinion.I've fitted plenty of Howdens kitchens and hand made kitchens but I would say it looks pretty high to me. Its 10 units unless i'm mistaken so its not a big job.Does it include any extras like moving electrics?,extra sockets etc?...

I would ask for a seperate quote for fitting as its no more than 5-6 days work for 1 man including stripping out old kitchen so I wouldn't want to pay more than about £1,100-00 fitting so that leaves £6,900-00 for units and appliances which seems very high. You would save a few hundred £ by buying the appliances yourself .

There are a few fitters on here that will give you a more accurate view. I would never go to Homebase as they are known for overcharging especially on fitting. A couple of years ago B&Q quoted £6,500-00 for fitting a kitchen that took me 7 days now thats a profit margin.:D

The hob is £750 - £800 on line. The sink is £299. Tap is £150. Oven coming in at under £900. The extractor is about £250.

By my calculations thy are charging you over £1100 over the top.

In return you are getting a dishwasher with an online price averaging £250.

I think you are being well and truely shafted.

dont forget there offering free fitting that isnt actually free and already incorporated in the price, so thats a few grand min.
Appliances dont really effect the overal cost of a kitchen as such as such a low mark up from companies unless you go from low end to high.
The main cost is the actual units and doors so is a little high considering the quality.

CDA appliances - read up on them and then decide!

Go find a local fitter and use Bosch/Siemens/Neff appliances.

    IMHO

I know a couple of people who have got their kitchens from Howdens seem very well priced for what you get. I didn't even know Tesco did kitchens ...

  • Magnet and Homebase are expensive and not great quality or service generally. Howdens double their trade price list and offer ridiculous discounts (85-90%) in most cases. People are daft enough to think this is real or a good deal. The kitchens themselves are fine but their is a limited number of carcase colours so they uses cladding panels to get over this but it pushes up fitting costs.
Tesco kitchens are indeed made by Mark Two and are decent quality. Exactly the same Lakes kitchens (by Mark Two) are sold online by Cut Price Kitchens in their Premium range.
They call this range Sculptured White gloss and Tesco call it Toulouse. You can use their basket to add up the unit costs without having to request a quote and you will save a lot of money. If you want a full quote just email the quote through to them.
Same guarantees and better service as I use them a lot. You just need to use a local kitchen fitter or ask them to recommend one in your area.
    Hope this helps

Sorted this two years ago some pricing from memory. I got a 12 unit Howdens kitchen for £3300. Fitting took 5 days as I had ripped out the old kitchen myself. Fitting cost was £800 with some basic plumbing included. Paid a plasterer £200 to do half the kitchen where the old one was taken out. Electrician £150 to put in 6 spot lights (lights £60 as energy savers) and 5 new sockets. Appliances purchased separately and online so I got a Bosch oven and hob for £500. £250 dishwasher, £250 fridge freezer. £300 washing machine, all integrated apart from the fridge. Paid a tiler £200 for flooring and tiling around the work surface (materials I paid £80 for I think). £30 on paint I did myself. All in about £7000. I would agree with others in that the price is inflated. Also factor in plastering/plumbing/electrics if not included in fitting. I reckon you are overpaying £1000 minimum probably more. For what you are getting 8k is not a good price.

For info I recently had a Howden's kitchen fitted and also had a quote from Tesco. Tesco price: £8500, Howden's fitted by local builder: £7000.

Plus the builder replaced the door, filled in and plastered over an old and replaced the old lights with spotlights through the kitchen which all in all would maybe cost another £500-700. So Tesco came in at maybe 2k over.

What annoyed me most about Tesco is they had no interest (in fact were very reluctant) to do anything above a standard in-and-out units refit. I had to push them to agree to quote to retile the floor, and they didn't even mention the lights which clearly needed replacing - I'd already given up by that point.
