McDonalds customer service!

On the 19th feb I bought a breakfast and an oj. The Orange juice was 2 WEEKS OUT OF DATE!!! I sent them an e-mail and received a reply asking me what my complaint was (had already sepcified this in original contact form) I responded and today, 2 weeks after original e-mail I received one asking me to post them the lid of the bottle and my receipt.

I was never given a receipt, but who keeps a receipt for a £2 something breakfast? Also should I have really kept the bottle, I threw it out as I diff wasnt going to drink it so saw no reason to keep it.

It has taken them 2 weeks to ask me for it, any ideas of how to word my letter that I dont keep empty bottles for 2+ weeks.

Thanks.

  • Hey, sorry to hear about that. I work for the dreaded scum LOL and am surprised at how they have dealt with you. Obviously you should not stand for it. Must have been a right jobsworth who dealt with your complaint. I only say this as i work in a rough area and seems like not a week goes by when we get in some low life drug user/ prostitute with vouchers that have been issued by head office for some phoney complaint. A guy that comes in our drive thru has been pulling a stunt for years, where by he gets an order, always asks for a receipt, then rings up store later that day saying his food was cold burnt etc. and so long as he has reciept he gets replacement and sometimes even a refund! Winds me up so much when there are genuine ppl out there who have had bad service or bad food and are treated as you were.....AARRGGHHHHH
Hopefully wont be working there much longer if i can get myself a proper job!!
Good luck with complaining... Give 'em hell. x

They are entitled to ask for proof. Unfortunately, you tend not to ask for a receipt in such places, so have little to go by. Even keeping the carton may not help as there would be nothing to say when you bought it.

If the orange had a use-by date on it then it would be an offence to sell it. You could contact the local environmental health dept who may send someone round to check things out, but other than that, you really are relying on the goodwill of Maccies to do something. I personally would not bother.
