O2 broadband and landline type

Currently subscribe to O2 for broadband and BT for calls & line rental, but only got around 5 months left on my broadband contract.

I've been looking around for cheaper line rental. I've been looking at the Post Office as a maybe stop gap until broadband contract ends or something alot cheaper like PlusNet or Sky and eventually migrate my broadband with one of them in the long term.

I thought you can have any broadband provider on a 'BT' line type (my exchange has LLU) and it doesn't matter which service provider you are paying line rental to. Talked to O2 today about this and they categorically said I could not unless I also paid them for the Homephone service, which I thought was a bit of a cheek.

What are your view on this, is O2 right or are they trying to pull wool over my eyes. Please help.

As you now pay BT for your line and get your BB from o2, clearly they are wrong!

Sorry, probably haven't explained this very well, I want to move away from BT e.g. Post Office or Plusnet, for line rental. I'm on O2 for broadband already.

I don't understand why O2 would not able to continue to supply broadband when technically the line hasn't changed

Just wondered anyone been down this route?

    OK.

Yes you can swap your line rental to another BT reseller like postoffice and still continue with your o2 bb.

The o2 rep you spoke to has mislead you.
