Pushchair / Travel system Quiestion

We bought the Graco Quatro I Love My Bear Travel System for my daughter.

Now we went for a complete travel system a) to try and save money and b) so we had everything.

Now my daughter is 14 weeks just and is not be any means overly large she is average so the health visitors tell me for length.

Anyhow she no longer fits in the carrycot without bending her legs and if she is put in the car seat wearing anything like a coat even with the straps fully extended she is scrunched in.

Now the car seat is supposed to last her to been a year and she is too small to go in the next size and the same with the pushchair.

We have the same size seat for the other car but a different make and have no problems.

I took the car seat into the shop and they said it looked more like a design fault but the one in the shop was identical. Obviously i have only just noticed this as she has grown hence why im complaining about it now.

Do you think i have a case to argue the system isnt fit for purpose and to swap it????

Hiya. I have a Graco Quattro travel system too. The car seat should have a removable headrest, and you should be able to adjust the straps (there are two sets of slits in my chair & cover to adjust the straps)
There should also be a removable polystyrene insert in the chair. Remove the cover, and you'll see it :)

Can you make the straps longer? A carseat only becomes too small once the baby's eyes are level with the top and it would be madness if your little one was too big for her seat at only 14 weeks. Try to have a fiddle around to see if there's more material you can pull through the slits.

Re. the carrycot, I'm not sure if there's anything I can suggest really. You can try pointing it out to Graco and see if they'll give you some money back.

Just as a sidenote, the carrycot is only suitable until the baby is any of the following-
    9kg or over
    Able to sit unassisted
    Able to roll over

The carrycot is literally just for early on. It will say this in the instruction manual.

At 14 weeks I wouldn't expect her to be that heavy or doing either of those things yet. But all babies are different I guess.

We had the same system for DD, and she fitted in the carrycot until she was about 18 weeks. I wouldn't say it's not fit for purpose, but babies grow at different rates - the guidelines given are exactly that, guidelines.

And as an aside, I was relieved when she outgrew the travel system and I had the excuse to buy a lightweight umbrella fold buggy instead, it was so much easier to push! Maybe try selling the travel system and put the money towards a nice buggy, they tend to retain their value quite well.

True. The carrycots aren't huge, though. I think when I bought it I was told it was a "newborn carrycot".
I've never really used it, as the car seat was more suited to my needs, and was more secure, but you can kind of tell by looking at it that it's only really useful for the first 3-4 months. After that, you can restrain the child in the pram part, and lie the back down & put the footrest up if necessary so that the child can lie down :)

I had a Gracco travel system and had exactly the same problem with my little boy. I took it back to toys r us and asked them if i was doing something wrong as the car seat straps would go no where near my little boy (he was about the same age) they said that the straps were fully out and he was simply 'too big' I ended up selling it on ebay for about £30 and buying a 2nd hand quinny with maxi cosi seat.

Joess, had you removed the polystyrene insert?
The reason I ask is that I have 2 graco car seats, and my 2 year old, who is big for his age, fits into both with the insert removed.
However, my 6 month old doesn't fit in either unless the insert is removed, so it makes a BIG difference!
