this TV has already been much talked about here. It was initially mispriced by ebuyer but has been at the price you mention for a while now. I'm moving this to Shop but don't drop as it is not really a Grabbit bargain.
  • dont log in enough, not read any debate on as i would like to get comments as it seems to cover all the basis as wide screen, 100khz, free view and stand....seems worth spending the extra over the phillips and the sony (now not on currys web) as the 100khz and freeview are not on those models, and this site seems to get lots of debate on those two models recently, so all comments welcome

100Hz will give you a crisp cleare picture with digital TV reception, also improved DVD/other image playback.

If your TV you have now is 50Hz you'll definitely notice the difference.

Sony would be my preference if it was 100Hz, although they are more expensive.

I'd be careful when buying a new TV. I wouldn't buy one purely for the features on paper. I'd try going to a shop to check the quality with my own eyes (when shop TV reception permits).

I bought a new Philips 28 inch 100 Hz set and I'm disappointed with the supposedly 'better' 100Hz technology.

When I was buying my TV , it came down to either the Philips or this Samsung and I have to say that the picture quality of the Samsung was inferior to the Philips - so all of you zombies who have gone and bought this set purely based on the features stated on the website , don't say you weren't warned.....

I wouldn't be so sure - anyone who has read my thread on the techie board will know about the experiences with my set.

Don't be surprised if your brand spanking new 100Hz set turns out to give a pixelated, overly soft, undefined, and smudgy picture with none of the sharpness, clarity and colour definition of a normal 50Hz machine.

Sports coverage with fast moving images suffers in particular.

The flickering is still there with 100Hz as well as 50Hz. There is no noticable difference in flickering between the two.

Check the Philips 28PW6518 - it's not 100hz - but super picture quaility. Plenty written about it on here & all over the place.

We got 6517 last year & did a compare with Samsung - I rate BOTH brands, but the Philips won because....

Only £30 more for the 'better' name.

More attractive cabinet & stand - watch out for the non-Philips one offered in some sites - it's nowhere near as smart

Stood side by side the Samsung is actually bigger, so depending on your room size, you might not realize how big these widescreen tvs are!!

    .....

Without checking everywhere, I did pick up a Comet tv brochure & they've some excelent deals for packages, just now - well worth re-thinking, on this one!!
