We had a cracking time in Malia but the people were allways trying to extort money out of us though.

    Hi Nelly

Do you mean the holiday reps or the locals?

Locals well hotel owner and a coach driver to the water park I also saw a documentary fly on the wall type programm about a group of girls who had the same thing. Nothing heavy just trying the over charge and stuff. apart from that its a cracking holliday destination.

did not like Malia one bit. threating local youths and so so many flying things that sting and bite were worst parts . renting a scooter and getting out of the place each day the Highlights

but that was 7 years ago as a last with friends holiday ( we felt too old for the place at 28 !!!) also i don,t rate Greece as a holiday destination so my opinon is very biased.

but my main bug with the place is the price compared to similar holiday in say Gran Canaria ( which never produced a bad friends holiday) . easily twice as expensive for food and beer !!!!!!!.

also reps and flights where worse than crap with Airtours.
Better in my pocket than theirs :rotfl:

I agree, thought Malia was an awful place, but parts of Crete are gorgeous.
As are a lot of places on the greek islands.

We were in Stalis a couple of years ago, Malia bleeds into Stalis.

Malia is really nice (as is Stalis), Malia has a great beach, off to the right hand side if you go out a bit, really wide & not crowded.

Can't help at all, but will say DON'T try & get travel insurance included, you won't get a good deal. Get it from MONEY SUPERMARKET, prob for less than £15 each.

If you hire a moped or buggy do be careful & wear your helmet (your travel insurance is invalid if you don't).

There are some fairly cheap restaurants in Malia (especially Chinese &/or Indian buffets), if you walk along the beach road towards Stalis there are some lovely seafront greek restaurants that do great lamb dishes.

    Have a nice holiday:beer:
