Builder failing to honour guarantee

I had a total refurbishment done on a property about 18 months ago and the company were great and completed the work to a high standard, within budget and on time. The contract included a five year guarantee on workmanship. Some additional lights they installed blew. I returned the fittings to the shop and they replaced them, without question. However, these do not work so the problem is obviously with the wiring. I've been trying, to no avail, to get the company to send someone out and investigate this matter for several months now and despite the agreeable relationship I had with them during the work, I really feel I now have to take it further given that they are failing to honour the guarantee. Any suggestions on the appropriate course of action would be greatly appreciated.

Five year guarantee! That was optimistic,I am still holding a retention over my builder and that will be the only reason he comes back. I fully expect mine will do exactly the same if/when he has all the money.
You will just have to keep hounding him, if no joy then try a letter before action.

Have you had the new lights tested, you can't just assume they work. Who fitted them, was it a proper spark? If so he should have diagnosed the problem easy enough, it is easy to test if power is getting from the switch to the lights or not. They were working for 18 months so the wiring shouldn't be the problem.
The faulty lights may have caused the problem in the first place, when they blew they could have blown other parts on the circuit.
Check the consumer unit trip switch is ok, it may have blew the fuse when the lights blew, same with the wall switch they can blow to.
If you fitted them yourself then you are capable of testing to see if power is getting to them. Get one of thos little electrical screwdrivers with the light, put your finger over the metal end and touch the tip of the screwdriver to the brown cable at the ceiling, if the light comes on then the problem isn't there, work your way back to the switch then consumer unit. Just make sure the power is off at the consumer unit while you are getting the live wire ready for testing and only turn it back on when it is safely out the way of the blue wire and not touching anything.0
