Alliance and Leicester

 My employers are merging and I am going to have my pay dates changed from 15th to the 31st of the month. This means that there will be 6 weeks between pay dates, I think this will be in April or May. Alliance and Leicester will charge me 5.00 if I do not put 500 in my account per month. Is this lawful, if so how can I get round it. Yes I know a fiver is not much but its my fiver lol.

If your salary goes in on the 15th April and then again on the 31st May you've still fullfilled the funding requirement of a payment each calendar month - haven't you?

1 If you have the idea that it is on the 31st of the month, presumably it starts in May. If the change is proposed for April it would have to be on 30th.

2 Whilst YorkshireBoy suggests you will get two payments (15th and 30th/31st) in the month of the proposed switch, you must check this. I would have thought they would plan to simply pay the total of your monthly salary on the last day of the month, not two payments to make the total.

3 I would assume that being paid on the 15th of the month was a term of your original employment contract. They would therefore need your agreement to change it, especially as this is a detriment to you (as you were being paid partly in arrears and partly in advance but in the future you will be paid entirely in arrears). However, I can't imagine you would want to resign or complain too bitterly about it.

I don't think YB suggested that at all, but in any case as far as A&L's funding requirements are concerned, it doesn't matter either way as was explained above.
