Greece is heading for the exit doors. Without realignment of the currency there's little chance of starting to turn matters around.0 -

If your country gives up most of its sovereignty to an unelected elite in Brussels/Frankfurt is it really surprising that this sort of thing starts to happen?Well, it certainly didn't take too long for them to show their real face:

ND has failed to form a government, it's now up to the second party, the anti-austerity Syriza to have a go:

Well, that's one way to see it (and it's accurate to some extend), but in my opinion, Golden Dawn mostly won by playing the card of illegal immigration and violent crimes.
It is fuelled by incidents like this, last year when at 5 am in the center of Athens, a man who was walking to the parking to drive his pregnant wife to the maternity ward, was stabbed to death (the murderers were 2 illegal Afghan immigrants who were caught and convicted and a Pakistani who IIRC managed to flee). Then again, only last month it was 2 illegal Pakistani immigrants who, after witnessing a car with an elderly couple getting stuck while trying to cross a railroad line, tried to help them get out, didn't leave even as the train was approaching and as a result all 4 died.
Illegal immigration is a major problem for Greece, but maybe, it seems that skin color is not a reliable way to judge people and the problem is far more compicated than that. Of course those bigoted, hateful morons can't grasp this.
Another recent (and very distrubing IMO) example is this:
http://www.huffingtonpost.com/2012/05/03/greece-prostitutes-hiv-arrests_n_1473864.html
Greece has far stricter privacy laws than the UK, yet the names and faces of those women were quickly published by the police without due process. This was in an attempt to appear tough on crime, for scaremongering and to divert attention from the fact that the healthcare system is falling apart because the government pulled the funding plug.
The ministers involved in this (Health and Civil Protection) used the excuse that this decision was taken in order to protect the public, which is utter bull faeces. There was absolutely no need to parade their photos in the media, both in the scope of being alleged criminals and for medical confidentiality. And if you had unprotected sex with a prostitute (and on top of that, it was blatantly obvious from their appearance in the photos that most of them are IV drug addicts too), you don't need to see them on tv in order to get yourself tested for STDs (and have your head examined while you are at it)!
It turns out that the strategy worked, both ministers got reelected as MPs yesterday, surviving the electoral massacre of PASOK. Who cares about a dozen homeless junkie !!!!!s anyway? You wanna hear about my new obsession?

Just in case anyone was still wondering about the "conversation techniques" of these people:

Thanks Zorz, just saw that on the news and it made me feel quite sick. Hopefully it will make people realise what thugs they are voting for though. Please stay safe in the sun and learn the A-E of melanoma: A = asymmetry, B = irregular borders, C= different colours, D= diameter, larger than 6mm, E = evolving, is your mole changing? I read that an arrest warrant was immediately issued for him, so lets hope he's in the slammer getting bent over a barrel by 'bubba' when the election happens.0 -

Golden Dawn were already down to about 4% in most polls. Will be interesting to see what happens to their vote now, especially as instead of turning on this chap, they are supporting him and saying that the communist MP threw a newspaper at him first and therefore appear to be saying that it was alright to smack her in the head.0 -
These things don't come from nowhere. How many Greek women get slapped round the head every Saturday night?"It will take, five, 10, 15 years to get back to where we need to be. But it's no longer the individual banks that are in the wrong, it's the banking industry as a whole." - Steven Cooper, head of personal and business banking at Barclays, talking to Martin Lewis0
