Missed payment not my fault

Two days after my payment was due in march, i noticed that my barclaycard statement showed that my ddm had been returned unpaid from my bank. I contacted my bank and that claimed that they had not received a request for payment. It would have been paid as there was sufficient funds and they claimed that it must have been the fault of barclaycard.
After a very frustration conversation with a call center in Mubai, they set up a new ddm but still maintained that it was my banks fault.
I have now discovered that my credit report is showing a missed payment. I emailed barclaycard and received a standard reply about credit reference agencies.
What do i do now to to sort out my credit report. I have never misse any payment in the past and feel i have been penalised for something which was not my fault.
I made the payment via my bank the day i realised there was a problem - two day days after the due date.

Assuming you had cleared funds in the current account the previous working day (ie you weren't waiting for a cheque to clear, and/or didn't have payments leaving the same day as credits coming in, and/or had sufficient overdraft facilities to cover the Barclaycard DD), I'd lodge a formal complaint with each institution.

Be sure to copy both organisations with your letter to the other, and make it clear that you intend to refer the matter to the FOS if you don't get a satisfactory outcome, ie find out who was to blame.

However, you'll only get the late payment marker removed if Barclaycard were to blame. If the fault is found to lie with your bank, that won't get your late payment marker removed. If that is the case you need to seek appropriate recompense (which will be hard to quantify) from the bank.

There was no problem with funds. I have replied to barclaycard that i am not happy with their generic response. If i don't get a satisfactory reply i will send the letters. Thanks.

    You won't!

You could/should save yourself a load of grief by filing the formal complaints now, because when you do get your unsatisfactory reply you can only then start the 8-week clock ticking (before you can refer it to the FOS).

They can't both be correct. One of the organisations is lying to you, and I'd imagine whoever it is will get a rebuke (in the form of an award to yourself, and quite possibly a £500 case fee) from the FOS. They will each know this and pull out all the stops to get to the bottom of it before it gets that far.

I really can't understand why you want to wait before formalising your complaint?

is this concerning your first statement?
Don't put your trust into an Experian score - it is not a number any bank will ever use & it is generally a waste of money to purchase it. They are also selling you insurance you dont need.

I had a problem with Barclaycard recently, completely different to yours, but after a bit of searching I found an email addy for David Chan, CEO of Barclaycard Europe.

Emailed him and got a decent resolution, within 48 hours. Was quite happy in the end.

Anyway his email is david.chan@barclaycard.co.uk .

Send him an email asking for it to be investigated, sure you'll get a response.
    From £8,800 to £2,200 in 2 years.

Nearly there, just the 0% credit card to go!
