Account without a permanent address

Hi
Does anyone know of an account that can be opened without a permanent address? Member of the family has relocated from Belgium but is in hotel accomodation at the moment and with us on his days off. We tried to open a bank account today for him as he will be paid by cheque but can't find anyone who'll do it without proof that he is resident at a perm address. Anyone know a way round this? Thanks

Banks will only open account for you if you have permanent address and if you can provide a document which contains that address and the name of the person opening account. The banks have a handbook, which lists all the documents they can accept as proof of address. You should check with the bank you intend to open the account with what document will they accept as proof of residence. If that person has just move to UK and does not have any official correspondence or correspondence whcih is acceptable to the banks tyou can consider buying an insurance and putting the person as co-beneficiary on the payment schedule. I know for a fact that Natwest do accept this as a proff of address.0 -
Go for the HSBC passport account. There is a £5/month fee though.<<If you liked what I said then feel free to click on the thanks button>>0

This will need you to trust him, obviously, but the bank will then be able to rely on you, as a known customer, if he defaults. I have done this with LTSB, I assume other banks have some similar arrangement.0 -
