Thanks for the advice everyone, I will check out John Lewis and hotukdeals!

My only concern with getting items such as the bed and sofa online is that there is a huge difference in quality and I am not sure you can easily tell from a picture. But the TV, washing machine and fridge could be checked on which and bought online.

I will also ring Halifax and see if they will switch me to a better deal, they are offering 0% online.

JL guarantee make sure you don't pay more for the guarantee. Use their never knowingly oversold policy because the guarantee is ok. E.g free 5 year but every year the total they have to give you if they can't repair it goes down by 20% so tv £1000 breaks in 4 year only get £200

Not worth paying Extra for but much better than what you would get compared to the £0 on the manufacturers!

Just an update - I have just spoken to Halifax and Barclays, neither will switch me onto their 0% on purchases offer.

I have cancelled my barclaycard, they said the information will go to the credit reference agencies at month end so it should show up on my file as closed at the end of May.

Halifax suggested that I cancel my current card, wait 30 days and try to apply for the 0% deal as a new customer, however they could not offer any indication on the requirements they are looking for. such as salary range. I am a bit worried that if they turn me down, I will be in a worse position than I am now as I will have no credit.

So instead I have reduced my Halifax credit balance down from £6,050 to £3,000 and I will apply to Tesco when the Barclays account shows as closed.

Hopefully I have made the right decisions!
