bank charges

Hi recently opened an new bank account with alliance & leicester. over christmas i sent someone a cheque for 60 pounds which i forgot about , i put 60 pounds into the bank to cover it but it was not in when cheque was presented they then took 35 pounds out of my account so there still was not enough money in when it got represented they then charged me another 35 pounds and also 25 pounds for beening over drawn i am on low income and think this is disscusting because my 60 pound cheque is still not paid

If this was the first time that this has happened to you, then ring them up, play stupid and be apologetic. If not, then you can get them back but it will take a bit longer. Look at reclaiming your bank charges. But if it is the first time, then the stupid me approach usually works.0

lesson number 1. Dont use cheques.
They aren't needed these days, I avoid them completely now unless someone is giving me one.0 -
i have alreay asked for my bank charges back but they said no !
this has now thown me has what to do next0 -
visit the reclaiming board that is entirely devoted to this subject.
i imagine you are one of the thousands of people who went to a-l on the back of incentives and have found that they are ultra strict on charges to get that money back.0 -
& if the banks go the way of some of the european banks which some posters on here keep banging on about, to write a chq when you have no funds is fraud & illegal, where in this country at the moment its written in T & C that you do not write chqs before the funds are available in the account, charges will apply if you do so - so look on the bright side - you only went against the T & C you signed up for, you didn't actually commit a crime!!0
