Hi all, hope you are all well
My 3 and half year old is disabled and our house is going to be assesed by social services, the main probelm we have, it at night time, she soils herself and i have to try and get her downstairs into the bath, so it has been advised about getting a wetroom put in her bedroom.
Now, i dont want to sound ungreatful but if we were granted one, could i put the extra money to it, to have better fixtures and fittings, when we moved into our house, it was very run down and we have prided ourselfs in making it very modern and chic, and i would hate for it to be turned into an OAP/hospital looking wetrooom.
If not, then we would probably end up taking the flooring/tiles up once they had completed it, which is a shame and a waste of time and money, so i just wondered if i bought the tiles and the flooring would they let me?
I hope this makes sense

the wet room flooring is saftey flooring so you dont slip, you will get a choice of colours, there will bee one that you think is sutable,,as far as tiling is concerened yes you can put extra money to it for nice tiles or cladding etc0

We recently had a wet room built courtsey of a disabled facilities grant. The tiles would have been plain white and very sterile looking so I bought tiles and the builders put them up. Mind you, they only cover the shower area and above the sink. I paid for someone to come in afterwards and put up some more. Also, they were going to install a radiator so I paid for a ladder style one and they installed it.
As an aside (and something I didn't think about until they'd started building), we had a sink with a mixer tap installed. My son hated washing his hands after going to the toilet as the water was either too cold or too hot. A OT friend pointed out that his OT should have thought about the mixer tap so I phoned and she agreed that it suited his needs and so the grant paid for that as well (the sink wasn't too expensive but mixer taps cost quite a lot compared to separate hot and cold taps and the plumbing is different).0 -
This is good to know, its just ive seeen tile effect vynal (spelling) non slip floor its not too expensive and looks a damn site better than the 'sparkly' blue/black floors they put in., so i just wondered if they would fit htat instead, and like u say, amaybe different taps and tiles0

When we had our bathroom done I had them put different tiles up and we did get other extras such as different taps and they put them up for us. They would not put different flooring down though as it has to be the anti slip flooring that they provide. Saying that though they did have a great choice and we had no problem finding some that we liked.0
