Drinks allowance Long Haul

Hi everyone.

We are going to Florida in April, and wondered if anyone could throw a bit of light on the soft drinks allowance that you can to drink on the plane journey.

New rules state that you are only permitted to take 100ml maximum capacity containers in a 8inch x 8 inch clear plastic bag ( one per passenger )

We cannot even find any drinks in a 100ml carton - Any ideas where to buy from ?

Are you also allowed to buy from Airside ( at extortionate prices ) to consume on the plane ?

Any help would be much appreciated.

Buy airside to consume on the plane. The main difference between landside & airside is that you generally don't get BOGOFs or 3-4-2.

You can take any amount you like as long as you buy it airside......
at their rip off inflated prices..........

They tell you that it is bad for you to drink alcohol on a 'plane.

Why then, when you ask for a lemonade do you get a miniature can containing one mouthful, whereas if you ask for a beer you get a full sized can ?

drive007, as far as I know the rule about the liquids and gels is for things like toothpaste and make up etc. If you take any liquids through security you will more than likely have them taken off you. We were off to Prague for the new year and the couple in front of us had a four pack of babycham taken off them and hairspray as in total it was a) more than the total allowance of luiquid and b)it was in a container bigger than 100ml. Secondly, if you buy airside - no problem at all but the airline wont allow you to drink your own alcohol on the flight. You will have to buy your drinks on the plane. Most airlines will serve free soft drinks but you will have to pay for alcohol, however I know BA dont charge!! Finally it is worth remembering that if you have a connecting flight at the end of your long haul and you have purchased any liquids, unless you can re-pack them in your hold luggage you are in the same scenario as the begining. More than 100ml will be taken off you!!! Enjoy your holiday!!!:beer:

Out of interet what airline are you with - I didnt realise that any charge for drinks on transtlantic?????

Flying with My Travel. they even charge you for the cheap headphones to listen to the in flight movies.

Based on my experiences American (generic) airlines charge for alcohol not soft drinks

One of the advantage of Virgin. ALL drinks free. No drinks to be taken through security but you can buy them airside. Although dearer than landside they are still likley to be cheaper than on plane
