Amazon and the Sale of Goods Act

Hi

Sorry my first post is a bit of a rant but I am at the point where I am going to throw my laptop through the window.

On 8th Feb 2012 I bought a card wallet off a seller on Amazon. The seller is based in France but the item was bought through Amazon.co.uk

Less than 2 months on and the fastener on the item has broken (the wallet was not overfilled or dropped). The seller refused to refund and is now ignoring me. Amazon are basically washing their hands of the whole thing.

My question is does the sale of goods act apply here? The goods were clearly not fit for purpose or of merchantable quality.

Any thoughts?

Thanks

Scott
