SSP, tax and child tax ending money worries

Because I worked over 16 hours before I was sick I still entitled to my tax credits for 29 weeks. 12 of them were my set hours and the rest guaranteed over time as I work for the NHS.Soon I will be going to half pay as my 6 months is nearly up and I assume lose my tax credits too? Not sure if I lose my child tax. All I know it it seems I'm am going to be totally broke with one child. I will not only lost the overtime pay but half my wage and my credits. I am thinking that I should go back to work even though I'm now having chemo because a the end of the day cancer does not feed my child. Even on days like this when just getting out of bed zaps my energy and I'm only half way through chemo. I feel I'm stuck between the devil and the deep blue sea. I do not want to give my job up and go on social security or what ever they call it now. I hope to be back as soon as my chemo is over. Has anyone been in this situation before please.

I'm so sorry to hear that you are having a tough time.

You won't lose your child tax credits, but you will lose Working tax credit.

I would suggest getting a benefits check to see whether you might qualify for disability living allowance or employment and support allowance to make up some of that shortfall.

You will lose your working tax credits but still get your child tax credits. You could apply for ESA once your SSP ends
