Homebase....pretty much over a barrell!!

Hi,
Not really sure where to start with this one, its a long and on going saga? Its going to be a long post!

I decorated our bedroom back in October and purchased two bedside tables and a dresser in the sale from Homebase (purchased on-line) The product arrived and the dressing table was damaged, it had been dropped or hit or something as the edges were scuffed and the corner was broken. I called them up, they didn't have a date when they could replace the dresser and we had to wait for more stock.

Time went by and we called them every week for an update (they never pro actively called us) we finally had a date for delivery....February 14th!!
When the new product arrived again, it was faulty. I didn't let the driver go and checked this before he left but said he couldn't take the faulty product away and we had to call customer services! Great!

So...we now call customer services and they say they do no know when a product will be in stock, they cannot guarantee that the product will not be faulty and we have al;ready waited since October.

This brings us to today, I email and call Homebase twice a week for an update, again they never call us pro actively. We get passed to pillar to post and their excuse is that they are unsure when the product will be in stock as the supplier has not let them know.

Here's the kicker, we bought the dresser half price (£99 at the time) and the only other ones we have found that would go with the other furniture we have bought is over £200!! I have asked homebase to cover the difference in price between what we have paid and the new dresser and the refuse. The refuse to give me a confirmed date for the new product and I still have an incomplete bedroom.

Over to you MSE, what do I do, if I am going to obtain a refund I would want this for the dresser and the bedside tables too that are fine as it was set? Or I keep waiting and hope one day this year the product comes in stock? what do I do? I am pretty much at Homebase's mercy!!
Please help.

You will only be entitled to a refund for all the furniture if it was sold as a complete set for one price. If they were all separate then they only have to refund the dressing table. After this amount of time its pretty obvious they won't be getting anymore in anytime soon (if at all).

Looks like it was just matching and not sold as a set, unfortunately you're not entitled to a refund for the lot.

Have you unwrapped and used the bedside tables? If you have, then there is no chance of getting a refund.

If you haven't used them at all, then I'd appeal to their better nature, and ask to return everything for a full refund.

Legally you're only entitled to a refund for the dresser.
Should've = Should HAVE (not 'of')
Would've = Would HAVE (not 'of')

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

Thanks for the help, think we may just have to return the dresser for a refund and then pay the extra elsewhere. annoying!
