Faulty Android tablet bought from Amazon.com

Hi,

I don't usually complain but feel I have had no choice in complaining to Amazon repeatedly with regards to a faulty Andriod tablet I purchased through them for my sons birthday.

I purchased a Tabtech M009S 2GB Google Android Tablet in December, after a couple of weeks the tablet stopped working. I contacted Amazon and they said that they would replace the item but they would not offer me a refund. I have had to return the tablet twice, as the replacement has been faulty (different issues each time, but basically hardware faults)

They refuse to pay for my postage fee and they still refuse to give me a refund. The manufacture of the item won't help either.

As I purchased the item using my credit card I thought that they would be able to assist in getting me a refund, unfortunately they will not help me. Apparently the sellers terms and conditions states no refunds after seven days. This was not at all clearly shown when I purchased the item. Buit this item is not 'fit for purpose', so hoping I have some consumer rights as far as this is concerned!

I'm really not sure what to do now. Has anyone else had a similar experience, I have to say it has put me off buying anything through Amazon. All comments and help greatly appreciated!

  • These cheap tablets seem nothing but a problem, I hope you get it sorted.

I've just had to write a report for someone who bought a load of them in bulk - they were pretty much all faulty!

Amazon are usually very good regarding returns. Are you dealing with Amazon or an Amazon marketplace seller? I'm guessing the latter as Amazon themselves don't seem to sell this tablet so there's probably no point complaining to Amazon.

The swift responses from all are very much appreciated!

    Hi vuvuzela, I used Amazon.co.uk

Hi neilmcl, I realise now that it was Amazon Market Place. My ignorance at the time meant I didn't realise there was a difference. Some people have told me since that they have also had problems with AMP.

Has anyone purchased a faulty good from Amazon Market Place and got their money refunded?

In that case you have to deal with the seller. Amazon are not responsible.

    Hi vuvuzela,

Thanks, I contacted the selller directly, although through the Amazon webiste, but the seller keeps on quoting the seven day rule even though what they have sold me was not fit for purpose.

What reasons have the credit card given for not helping. If the product is indeed faulty then they are jointly liable and should refund.

But the product in question now only costs £59.99 on Amazon market Place.

If the OP paid less than £100.00, Section 75 wouldn't apply, would it?

Might be worth looking at the card company's chargeback scheme though... http://www.moneysavingexpert.com/shopping/visa-mastercard-chargeback
