Problem with council kitchen re-model - any advice?

Hi, it's a long shot but wondering if anyone has any advice.

I'm in a council flat, this week and next they council are fitting a new kitchen - they put the units in yesterday, we've noticed that as well as FAR less workable bench space it's actually unsafe. Hard to describe the problem.

We have two electrical outlets;

1. Located to the right of a bench, in order to plug anything in we have to the electrical item we'd have to put it it right at the edge of the bench where it would easily be pushed off, and we'd have the wires hanging awkwardly so easily caught.

2. Located above a small bench space directly next to the cooker - you can't fit more than a kettle on the bench, if the cooker is on it will melt/damage the kettle and wires, also if we have to use the kettle when the cooker is on there's a risk we'll burn ourselves. The cooker is now located between two tiny benches so we risk catching hot pans or burning ourselves whichever bench we use.

We're very unhappy, but we don't know if there's anything we can do about this - it's not like we're paying for the new kitchen, and it's all been fitted (units in and electrical work done so far - FYI we didn't see the plan for the kitchen before this was done) so doing anything about it would involve ripping some of the kitchen out. But as it is we ARE going to have accidents.

Do we just have to put up and shut up?
