How long after closing a Barclaycard credit card can you apply for another Barclaycard?

I closed my Barclaycard Initial account last month and applied for a Barclaycard Gold account last week and have received a letter which says, "Because you already have the type of Barclaycard account that you applied for, we are unable to accept your application."

Do I have to wait for 6 months now?

I've heard about the 6 month thing but can't see it in their FAQs. Maybe worth a call to let them explain their decision and suggest your next moves?

It is a six month wait. Bit silly but Barclaycard make their own rules.

Thanks. I've just done their pre-application check and it is now offering me both the Simplicity and the Platinum cards with a 70-80% chance of approval. It was only offering me the Gold Card earlier when I had just closed the Initial Card, so guess they have updated the data in their systems now. I'll try again in 6 months time.

I have the platinum card and nearly at the end of the intperiods rede period and my next barclaycard I would want would be the simplicity card, so if your not planning on transferring a balance get the simplicity card.
