Guide for planting seeds outside?

Part of the Furniture 1,000 Posts Photogenic I've been Money Tipped!
I've just ordered a load of seeds from Alanromans (thanks to someone on here mentioning how cheap they were!) but the trouble is the planting directions on their website aren't too clear. I don't want to be having tonnes of pots all over the place again this year so I want to sow the seeds directly into the garden. What I'm asking is when should I plant these ones out as all I can work out is late spring/early summer?

Larkspur doesn't have a time to plant them out...could I plant them now?

What about honesty? The website says to plant it in a seed bed in spring and then transplant to flowering position in September/October but can I get away with just planting it out into flowering position?

I'm much better off with full seed packets :rotfl::rotfl:

when something says 'late spring, early summer' they mean after the frosts for your area. I am in East Anglia, and would consider to be frost free by about mid/late may, so I would plant then.

I've had a web hunt for you, and found:

    http://www.goodwoodgardens.com/Info%20Seed%20Starting%20Dates.htm

which seems generally useful, but tells me:

    sow larkspur outdoor mid may

Honesty is a biennial (plant this spring, transplant in autumn, will flower the following spring/summer) therefore (apparently) sow May is the optimal time, July/august being the latest. partial shade is required. Needs to grow rapidly to be fully winter hardy. I guess this would be the plant to stick in peat/newspaper pots so that you don't take up garden space all year?

Allysum is not really a plat for sowing straight into the ground. It really needs to be sown in seed compost at a temperature of around 60 degrees and pricked out into seed trays and planted out mid to late May. You might have some success sowing in the ground but it will probably be too late flowering to be of any use.
