where do i stand in terms of legislation??

Recently bought a second hand camera lens. there was two lens on offer one at 800 (described as excellent condition) and the other at 400 (described as average condition) i couldnt tell the difference between the two lens visually so decided to take the more expensive lens at 800. anyway to cut a long story short i actually bought the camera in average condition for 800 as the price tags on the camera had been swtiched about (i found this out subsequently). Basically do i have the right to be refunded with the 400 pounds extra i paid. (this happened in scotland, so it would be under scots law)

any help would be greatly appreciated

Are we talking online or instore purchase? Was this a shop or private purchase?

i spoke with the store manager yesterday, there was a new guy on he cleaning up and when putting the lens back he has put the wrong tags on.

If the manager himself told you he'd sold you a £400 lens for £800, it should be simplicity itself to get the lenses swapped so you get the one you paid for? Doesn't sound like they're trying to weasel (even though frankly they could probably legally charge you £800 or £8000 whatever you were happy to pay), so give them a chance to put things right.
