Jet Lag Baby - sleep and feeding advice

Can anyone give me advice on how to alter the feeding and sleeping routine of my six month old when we go to the otherside of the world next month?

I have him in such a perfect routine that I am not sure how to turn it around.

Many thanks

We didn't quite go to the other side (even though it felt like it!) but we travelled "back in time" to Canada when my baby was little..

I don't know of any tricks per se but after a few days we were just doing that time zone. The first few mornings were a nightmare as he woke up about 4 a.m. full of beans..I just settled myself in front of the telly for a few hours and sat through it...but I just acted like we were on that time zone and had meals same time as everyone else, etc...

    Have a nice time

maybe gradually put him to bed few mins earlier/later each night, and get him up the same. at least then it won't be such a shock.
  • When our little man was six months we went to Singapore. Bit of a shock at first but we stayed on "British time" for 3 weeks when we were there. Worked a treat because we could go out at night and sleep late in the morning ;D.

Extra bonus when we came back no problem settling back into a routine ;).

We went to North Carolina when my little girl was 10 months and I had just got her into sleeping through at night. She was up very early for the first couple of days, but very quickly adjusted to NC time (5 hours behind) - I think we had a few early nights at first, but generally just went with the flow. She was still breastfed and that did step up a lot - she always seemed to be up my t-shirt!

Routines have to be broken sometime and travelling with a little one means you have to be adaptable. My daughter has travelled with us a lot and always stays up late on holiday and gets up late, which actually suits us. It will all fall into place, but I know the prospect can be daunting. Have a great trip. You can always re-establish the routine when you get home.
