Hi,
Don't know if this is in the right area.
In 2008 I defaulted with barclaycard for £1500, it's been a hard few years please don't judge.
They in-turn sold the debt to Lowell who are evil people who I've refused to make contact with because if their practices. It had been about a year without contact until today when I got an e-mail from Scotcal saying they've been told by Lowell to come visit me?!
First question is, isn't it illegal to show up without an appointment first? (not that I'd let them in)
Second question is, seeing as I haven't handed out my email and I'm sure they just guessed my email by adding my name to Google isn't their attempt of notification illegal as well???
Shouldn't all contact be made by post?

Neither turning up with an appointment nor sending an email is illegal.
Albeit that the suggestion of a visit is probably an empty one.0 -
They are experts at dealing with ostriches, they know the threat of getting faced up at the door soon gets the head out of the sand.Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0

I'm fairly sure oft regulations say you need to write and give a date and time.
Surely sending a random email is !!!!!!!!?0 -
How was it random if you got it ?
I did not get it here...Hi, we’ve had to remove your signature. If you’re not sure why please read the forum rules or email the forum team if you’re still unsure - MSE ForumTeam0 -

I don't know what you mean by 'I did not get it here'
My email address is easy to guess if you know my name and I never hand out my email address.
Just seems to me that scotcal run a 2 bit operation and I asked a question for other people's experiences.0 -

Does the letter say the will visit you or that they may (instruct a field agent to) visit you?
Or does it simply say they will/may call you?, this means they will/may telephone you.
The wording these debt collection agencies use say one thing, but lead you to believe something else.
Do Scotcall visit? IIRC I've only read one example of them doing so.0 -

I'd suggest to the OP that they start working out a way to pay the bill, even if its a fiver a month. This will, at least, start paying down the debt and stop all the nasty letters/communication.0

It said the would but no indication of when (not that of let them in)
And it was just a standard worded letter like I've had before. There's only 1.5 years left until it's statutory bar, would they bother? I won't pay. I offered my money to barclaycard when it was with them, they didn't reply and sold it to lowell who are obviously evil.0 -
Lowell are very near the bottom of the pond, Scotcal are even futher down so that should tell you all you need to know.0
