ebay charity auctions - missionfish - anyone got any experience?

I've been thinking about including a donation from some of my auctions to ebay charity. They have joined up with Missionfish so that it's easy to choose a charity in your area as well as the usual big ones.
I was kinda hoping that that if I'm donating 10% of the sale to charity I might get a little extra money for the sale AND ebay give 10% of the sale fees to the charity too, plus the gift aid allowance from the inland revenue, so in effect the buyer, ebay and the government are all giving not just me.

Question is - has anyone got experience of these charity auctions, were the bids higher than you might have expected?

I've never use them personally, but if you are going to use them, you should make sure you are aware of exactly how much missionfish charge per transaction (i.e. There is a minimum donation of £2 per auction, and their fees can take as much as 20% from the final donation price, etc.).

There is handy guide to what happens over at Missionfish...

    http://www.missionfish.org.uk/ForSellers/forsellers.jsp

    and here with examples...

As a seller, you donate a nominated percentage (min 10%) of the final selling price to the charity of your choice although the minimum donation amount is £2. Missionfish take their fees from the donation, not the seller.

In addition to your donation, Ebay.co.uk donate a percentage of the fees they get from the sale, to the charity and Missionfish will reclaim the Gift Aid Tax from the Inland Revenue and pass it to the charity (if you tick the box!). So as well as your donation, the charity gets some extra from Ebay, and the Gift Aid payment from IR (less the Missionfish fee).
