Balance Transfers

Can anyone tell me if it's possible to pool debt between husband and wife ie. can we transfer our two separate credit card balances on to one new card?

    Yes.

And the owner of the new card wins the whole debt.

yep hubby and I have done this.
we've also moved his debt to my card and the other way too. Depends on which card has the offer on.

BUT as zx81 states the debt then becomes the problem of the main card holder ( even if the spouse is named as a secondary holder)
There are pitfalls to this method IF the relationship fails.

Be aware that some providers (eg Santander and, in my past experience, HSBC) insist both cards are held in the same name. If yours falls into this category then best to make the BT request online, rather than ringing them.
