Afternoon Teas in London

Hi Everyone
Looking for some advice on best deals for afternoon tea in London. It is my Mums birthday soon and I know she would enjoy a trip to London and afternoon tea, however, whilst I would be paying as a birthday treat the Ritz is a bit out of my league  . Does anyone have any suggestions of a nice place in central London that won't break the bank.
Thanks

You can still go somewhere quite posh on a budget, as long as you pick a place that doesn't force you to have a 'set meal' style tea for £30-40 a head like the Ritz does.
You could try Fortnum and Mason on Picadilly (just order a cake and a pot of tea and you'll spend well under £10 a head, then wonder round their stunning shop) http://www.fortnumandmason.com/about/restaurants/fountain/
Or The Wolseley, also on Picadilly, where a basic cream tea with sconnes is also under £10 http://www.thewolseley.com/Snootchie Bootchies!0
