Large wooden corner planter . . .
Sorry if this is the wrong section guys and gals.
I'm after a medium to large sized corner planter but living on the IOW reduces our options for places to buy one.
Can any of you suggest a reputable online trader that sells such a thing?
Many thanks in advance

Absolutely easy to make. I'm itching to make one myself and probably will this weekend. You don't have to be a craftsman or experienced, just try to follow thus. Don't panic about cost either. Just think www.freecycle.com for your area.
I suggest you use, decking boards as they are hardy wearing and stain well.
As I write this, I'm looking at the corner of my room, imagining that is where the planter will stand, and thinking how high I want it. Say you want it 2ft one way and 1ft 6" the other, so it is like an L , then you need a length to go from corner to corner.
You need to measure the width of the decking board, say it is 6", then your box will be multiples of 6", so 4 pieces cut 24" long will when placed on the ground, be 24" high. In the same way your four pieces cut 1ft 6" long, will also be 24" high.
What you will have to purchase no doubt, is a length of wood that is angled. Think of a piece 3" x3" and 24" in length, cut corner to corner like a triangle. It is this piece that supports the L in the corner. You have to screw each of the decking boards to it. The L will stand on it's own. You then need to screw another of these angled pieces to each of the other ends in readiness for the front. Measure the length from each of the far ends to one another, so you know how long the next pieces of decking board should be, then screw in.
Your corner box will now be almost complete. You can attached the base, made up of off-cuts easily, but don't forget to drill for drainage. A stain with a colour of your choice should complete the box. Allow to dry thoroughly, add crocks for drainage, compost and away you go. It might read difficult, but believe me it isn't. I am sorely tempted to set up a little business to keep me occupied and sell'em to passers by. One I made in an hour or so, has already created several "would you make one for me?" comments.
When I mentioned freecycle, I meant you could ask fro free off-cuts.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. To contact the Forum Team email forumteam@moneysavingexpert.com0 -

I would suggest making the 2 sides the same length so the angles on the 2 front supports are 45 degrees. If you make an L shape, you're going to need supports at the fromt cut at say 30 degrees and 60 degrees & you'll need to work out exactly what this angle is. Unless you are able to work this out and have a good mitre saw, this could be tricky.0

Yes, I couldn't agree more. I wanted to show a symbol and that's the best I could come up with, then I felt as one length was obviously different, I needed to carry it through. I'd sort of dug myself in a hole etc., and yes, the angle thing IS important. The trouble is, when explaining over the net, one is never sure if one is being condecending or the other person knows nothing and they need an a) b) c) explanation, I know I do.This is a system account and does not represent a real person. They do a small selection, nothing too substantial though. If the truth be known I did attempt to make one this week as last year I ripped up lots of decking wood. Thing is I forgot I gave most of it to my father and duly noted that I didn't have to complete my project.0 -
I'm now going to make you cry. Last year we sold our holiday static mobile home. We had the previous year spent a grand or so on a brand new decking. I am reliably informed that when the van was moved, the decking was broken up and every tom !!!!!! & harry helped themselves.
