Lovefilm dvd subscription

I'd decided to catch up on some old, hard to get hold of classics and decided to sign up with a dvd company. I did a search and decided to go with recommendations of http://www.choosedvdrental.co.uk/dvd-results.asp which listed lovefilm as the leading favourite. As I don't watch a lot of films, I decided to go for the basic £9.99 option of 1 dvd each time, unlimited. However, try as I might, the link could not bring up this deal. I then went on to the site directly and the deal was available but the free trial offer was not the same. I decided to write to the customer service but found out that in order to do that, I had to join first and so I did, to the next best option, the £12.99 one. And wrote in upon which, true to their word, they directed me to a no to call. I called and was happy that the guy could switch things around and though that all frustration had now ended. I later found out that I had been charged and that by calling in, according to terms and condition, I would nullify the free trial period. To cut the long story short, in the end they gave me an extra few weeks of free trial as a gesture of goodwill but it was the hardest work I had to do for something so simple.
The point I'm writing this is so that hopefully someone will find this if they do a search and as the same problem still exists, they would hopefully be able to circumvent it. This was a month ago but I'm still mad about it and fervently believe that its deliberate misleading of the public.
Otherwise no other complaints once the dvds started arriving. Any one with bad experiences?

As far as I can remember you have to take the 2 or 3 disc option for the trial period. After the free trial is over you can then switch to any of the tarrifs you want. The catch being you have to remember to do so before you start paying.

Incidentally you can save money if you sign up through Tesco. They are essentially reselling LoveFilm's service, so the service and choice of discs is the same. You even send the DVD's directly back to LoveFilm, but at a lower price and you get clubcard points too.

.Anyone else who has used Lovefilm will concur with " The hardest thing I had to do for something so simple" and " misleading the public" is a byword for them.

Thats weird-when i do a search of Lovefilm, none of the previous threads come up.Why is that?
  • I've had no trouble with them, except one mistake where they sent the wrong DVD. In fact they gave me two and a half months free last month when I tried to cancel...

my mate's nickname is Riva too...*wonders whether it's the same person*
