Q about Birmingham NEC

Going to the Gadget Show Live next Friday - bought me and OH tickets for Christmas. We're travelling Sheffield to Birmingham, got reasonably cheap travel on the Megabus (better than going by car or train any how) but it does mean that we'll be needing to eat lunch and tea in Birmingham.

Does anybody know whether you can take your own food and drinks into the NEC? Are they likely to search bags?

Is there anywhere to eat within walking distance that isn't super expensive?

remember NEC is ( close to) the Megabus Birmingham Airport stop, - not Birmingham City.

Otherwise it is anothrt train or bus.

I've taken my own food in - I don't think they check

There isn't really anywhere to sit and eat it though - most of the seating is attached to their food outlets

Yes, unfortunately our journey back is at 7.30pm and the thing finished at 6 so I don't know whether we'd have time to travel in between for food.

At least we could take packed lunches if nothing else, I don't mind scoffing a sandwich whilst walking round. :)

The NEC is attached to the airport, and there is a subway there on the bit in between. Im also sure that in the foyer of the NEC there are a few little food stands, and a wetherspoons. IDK if they confiscate food, I'd doubt it though.

    Edit to add:

Can't post links, but heres the NEC's page about it just add the www. and remove the spaces.

Thanks, I think we could stretch to tea at Subway or Weatherspoons. :)
