Driveway Brick Pavers advice please...

Over the past few days I have removed weeds that had grown between my driveway pavers. I notice that many of the brick pavers look as though they had been pointed with mortar and many other had gaps of sand and earth. This may be the way that you lay pavers I do not know.

Next I intend to pressure wash the pavers with a Karcher P400 T-Racer attatchment that will be fitted to a K4.600 washer.

I would like advice please regarding what products to use to inhibit weeds from coming back, also what would I use to fill in the gaps between the brick pavers, sand maybe or mortar?

Regards

BobUK

    They're not supposed to be mortared in. You can pressure wash, but you'll need to refill the joints with sand (not earth!). Sounds like they were originally badly laid or reset.
    Any chemical treatment can be used to prevent weed growth.

    macman Many thanks for your advice.

    Would you advise to use the chemical treatment directly after I pressure wash?

    Or after I fill in the brick pavers with sand?

    I do my block paving every couple of years along with pressure washer. I did mine last week and used an paving attachment which helped keep the joints with sand. If you have issues with weeds just use a weed killer or you can get small metal things that gouge out weeds or use a weed burner like one of these

    Might be cheaper else where

    pressure wash then - sand plus weeds will come out

    let the blocks dry

    then get kiln dried sand and brush it in to the cracks on perfectly dry blocks.

    then keep on top of the weeds with weedkiller in future

    bobula Many thanks to you also for your advice.

    Yes I will brush in the kiln-dried sand when the weather is good and the blocks are dry.

    Had our block paved driveway pressure washed a few days ago. V sunny down south so got kiln dried block paving sand from Wickes this am. Worked a treat. First time i have ever done this. Lets see. The dry sand was easy to broom in but it took a lot longer than i thought.
