Have you reclaimed bank charges or mortgage exit fees?

A journalist from the Sunday Times is looking to interview MoneySavers for an article on bank charge/mortgage exit fee reclaiming. He’d like two people:
Someone who had their bank account closed down after they reclaimed their bank charges
And
Someone who successfully got their mortgage exit fees back.
If either of these sound like you, please PM me with your details and I will pass them on. Thanks

I didn't know you could also claim Mortgage exit fees back.
Nice one. Well worth a go.
I have paid Three Mortgages up in the last five years so it'll be interesting to see."Unhappiness is not knowing what we want, and killing ourselves to get it."Post Count: 4,111 Thanked 3,111 Times in 1,111 Posts (Actual figures as they once were))Women and cats will do as they please, and men and dogs should relax and get used to the idea.0 -

I have a friend who is claiming back the same amounts, his decision is due on the 28th, so I'll post back the outcome...0 -
There's a whole article on mortgage exit fees reclaiming, if you want to look into it some more.

I claimed £175 exit fees from Halifax last month. I am also claiming mortgage fees from my broker who also said I would pay £50 mortgage fee but it suddenly went up to £500 at the 11th hour.0

Tried claiming my MEAF from Woolwich, however so far they've ignored my requests. Sent them another letter by recorded delivery giving them 7 days or I'll raise a formal complaint with the FSA.0

Hi, Abbey have given me back my fees, it only took 1 letter and 2 weeks and no problems. Give it a go, its better in your pocket than theirs!0

Abbey are now sending me the forms.
Ties in quite nicely with the impending decision day, tomorrow.
Since I couldn't claim back the bank charges that everyone else seemed to be enjoying, I am rather chuffed.
Goes a long way for paying for all of the time I waste on MSE. geordiescouse - did you receive back your full exit / repayment fee of £225, or did they just pay you the difference of £126 (ie £225 - £99)? And did they consider paying interest at all for the time they'd had your money? And how long did it take from making the initial claim?
I'm interested because I had a call at lunchtime today with Abbey (they had charged me £225 despite earlier documentation when I took out the mortgage to say that I would be charged £99) - and they said they had a team dedicated to dealing with these issues - they're sending me a form to complete. The lady I spoke to said that if I hadn't changed my mortgage package after 11th May 2005, then I should have been charged the £99 exit fee.
By the way - freephone number to discuss with Abbey (thanks to saynoto0870!) is 0800 555 100.;)0 -
