Ok, so several cups of coffee, a workout, and some chocolate later, I have a plan for this week. I'm going to go to Mr S tomorrow to get groceries needed for the week (salad, fruit, milk) and after that, my purse is not coming out with me for the rest of the week. Have no reason to spend, no social gatherings planned until Saturday, so I'll be hard on myself, but I'll damn well do it!

Definitely not drinking until next weekend :p

Right then, my head is feeling much clearer this morning after a lovely night's sleep :)

I don't feel I've been very productive with my 4 day weekend so far this week, so I'm going to get my !!! in gear today. To do list is as follows:

    • Food shopping
    • Tidy flat (were I to call it a pigsty, I would be worried about offending pigs!)
    • Uni work
    • Bake a cake for Monsieur
My CC statement came through over the weekend, so have made my £35 payment to that, plus the £13 in coins that I paid into the bank on Saturday. This means that, when I receive my payout from Pur3 Pr0file (when you're ready, guys) and pay that off my CC, it'll be below the £150 mark! :j

I'm going to up my NSD target in my signature to 12 in order to push myself (I feel I need it!). I'm not counting bill / debt payments as 'spending' (though, naturally, they get logged on my spending diary!), so yesterday is counting as a NSD.

Today's glitterful contribution: doing my nails and eyebrows later, in order to look like all of my £15,000 salary at work tomorrow :p

Urgh, the weather sounds vile out there - I think I'm going to need another cup of coffee to motivate me to get up!

Right, I've done a bit of a re-jig of my strategy & my spreadsheet.

Suddenly realised that, whilst I of course need to be focusing on paying off my CC and killing my OD, I can't be forgetting about expenses that I know will be coming.

For example, everyone and their dog (actually, don't know about the dogs - they're all rescue pooches) in my family has birthdays in the June - September period. I need to have a buffer in my finances for that. It's Monsieur's 21st this year too...

I'm going to the states for 2 weeks in October. Need spending money for that!

and, last of all, that midwinter festival that causes everyone to gain 5 kg!

I want to save £300 for my holiday - don't plan to spend all of that, but I'd rather be safe than sorry. There are 25 weeks between now and when I leave, so I'll alternate paying £15 into an envelope one week, and £10 the next. This will be cash, as I'll just change it into dollars before I go at the post office or wherever has the best exchange rate!

I'm going to budget £250 for Christmas, and stick to a strict spending limit for each person! I'm going to save this in one of the saving accounts linked to my current account, transferring £30 a month from now until November. The reason for this being online, rather than cash, is that I tend to do most of my Christmas shopping online, so I can just transfer the money into my current account as I spend it, rather than have to physically go to the bank and pay it in.

Birthdays between June and September I'm estimating at costing me at least £180 in gifts, and that's without me going overboard! I've noted down how much I want to spend on each gift, so I'm just going to stash this amount away bit by bit.

UGH - so much money to part with, so little in my account to begin with!

Right, in preparation for this enforced week of no spending, my actual purse is in my bedside cabinet and is STAYING there! I've put my library card, gym card, student card and driving license (chuff knows why I'd need that, but I like to have it with me) in an old coin purse.

I will need to spend at some point this week, on bread and on bus fare to and from the doctors, but I'm going to try to last until Friday for that!

I'm setting myself another mini-challenge this week of getting out of the office every lunchtime. It's such a toxic atmosphere, fresh air will do my good both physically and mentally.

Roll on Friday (or a new job!)

Well, it worked! I haven't spent anything at all today! I feel that getting away from my computer at lunch helped, too, as I wasn't lusting over shoes or dresses on the Dotty P's website (not that I make a habit of this, you understand...).

My cash for the week is £80. £40 of this has now been allocated into envelopes that I somehow acquired during the course of the day *cough*. £20 in the holiday money fund, and £20 in the Alton Towers fund.

I'm trying to hideously overestimate how much I need to save for things, so as to have money left over at the end of the year. For example, whilst I'm saving £60 for Alton Towers, I plan on spending £40 or less. The remaining £20 will therefore be freed up for other stuff =)

Inspired by another diary I stumbled upon today, I'm going to start listing the glitterful things that have happened each day. I find life is so much easier when you focus on the positive :)

So, without further ado, Tuesday's Glitterful Things:
    • Had a NSD
    • Went to the gym after work, despite the fact that all I wanted to do was slouch into bed in my PJs
    • Went to the library at lunch to collect some books I'd reserved, this means I have shiny new books to read, yay!

Right, I'm off to kill some video game zombies, read, and sleep

Absolutely livid. Monsieur went to the pub last night, and from the racket downstairs between 1am and 4am, brought people back. Fair enough. What is NOT fair enough is me having to dodge various piles / trails of vomit this morning (all Monsieur's, I'm assuming) in order to get to the shower, only to find that he's dumped his vomitty clothes, and the bag 'into which' he threw up, in the bath. what the hell does he thinks going to happen to them? That they're going to magic themselves clean? Unfortunately, I had to clear the bath up, as I needed to have a shower.

SERIOUSLY considering throwing Monsieur out. He does absolutely !!!!!! all around the house, and takes no responsibility for anything. If those clothes get washed off his own back, I'll be amazed.

  • LaFolie - sounds like you not being appreciated. Boo on Monsieur. I think he needs a good ol kick up the bum, is he a man or a child?

Questionable! He's been told in no uncertain terms that, for his own safety, he'd better stay somewhere else tonight. I need space to think about what to do.

I'm going around to my mum's on Friday evening for some general life and career advice. Mummies make everything better (as do the puppy-dog and kitty cuddles I'll get whilst I'm there).

Once again, I have only my gym card, driving license, and student card with me. I fear if I step into a shop in my current mood, all sorts of hideously middle-class but scrummy goods will jump into my grasp!
