optician promised the earth didnt deliver

Hi Guys,I`m looking for some advise please,I have bad eyesight - 30 both eyes I went into a local optician just before Christmas to get my eyes tested I was persuaded to get another pair of glasses he promised me thinner lenses quoted me £300 I thought that okay he rang his suppliers they couldn't do that price told me now £600 I said okay thinner lenses could never get them before he didn't deliver in the 3 weeks he promised,we rang him he said they were in in January,when I saw them I was shocked and disappointed they were very thick and very heavy I could have wept foolishly I paid for them by credit card as I felt under duress,he said he thought they would be thinner than that,I decided I didn't want them price now £700 when I checked statement I left them with him in January he was "going to make them thinner" now March still no glasses,I sent three emails to his various email addresses he has not answered them,I told him because he didn't give me what he promised I didn't want them and to credit my credit card,what can I do now I am 66 disabled live in sheltered housing pay £500 rent and service charge £101 council tax worked since 14 cant get help with anything means tested my wife is going in for an op. for bowel cancer we are at our wits end with this what can we do,sorry for rambling on.

You may be able to get yur credit card company to help you out here - have a search of the forum for Section 75 claims.0

I can only apologise on behalf of the Optical profession. Quite simply, I'd go in person, say you'd like to cancel as they haven't fulfilled their end of the bargain and produced a product as thin as promised in a reasonable time frame and at the originally agreed price. If you still don't have any joy, then contact your credit card company or try Citizens Advice. If you PM me your location, I'll try and direct you to a practice that will get it right for you.Beware the character seeking personal gain masquerading as a moral crusader.
