I am on the BT basic line rental and broadband, so bill should be about £29.00 per month'ish!
I have oodles of free minutes on my mobile and my folks who live abroad have free call to the UK.
So my landline is purely used to receive overseas calls and for my broadband.
I checked this months BT bill to see that I have been charged £2.50 + vat for not using my landline!
I realise this is probably buried somewhere deep deep inside their T&C's but no one else I know has heard of this.
My bill says just use your phone for two calls a month to avoid future charges.
I actually thought I was being very moneysaving by keep my phone charges to a minimum, obviously not :-(
Anyone else come across this?

BT Basic or standard BT line rental with free weekend calls?
My BT Basic line rental does not require me to make any calls and it's only about £4 a month.
However, if you are required to make calls then make them. Just call someone else on the weekend say hello then say goodbye and finish the call. Call the taxi company and ask for a quote..it's only 1 call every 2 weeks. Put a reminder in your computer to make that call.:footie:
Regular savers earn 6% interest (HSBC, First Direct, M&S) Loans cost 2.9% per year (Nationwide) = FREE money.0 -
I think you are confusing people with you terminology, as Happy says BT basic is a package costing about £13 a quarter with I think some inclusive calls.
However I assume you are on the Weekend package. If so do you have caller display, this is only free if you make 2 calls a month. make sure you make them at weekends when they are free.0 -
