New BT charges for sure?

ive just got my MBNA card and they basically stated that ALL BT's will now be charged the 2% or £35max and they are only allowing discression if you state that you knew nothin about the charge etc... they also said that all other credit card companies are very soon to introduce this!

Has anyone recently done a BT where a fee wasnt stated at all? i.e. u tried to do a BT and they did it without charge and didnt even mention a charge?

I think the BT loophole may soon become less appetising :(

£35 is a relatively small amount in relation to the amount you can make from interest (or save if you are carrying a positive balance), so I wouldn't be all that worried about it personally.

There are other cards available without a charge, but MBNA are one of the better options because of the low minimum repayments and good credit limits. The girls in customer services have delicious Irish accents too - well worth the £35 in themselves ;)

Having dealt with MBNA, I would guess you could fairly easily have the charge waived on the first transfer (call up, ask to make a transfer, when told about the charge tell them that in that case they can cancel the card - if they still refuse then abort the transfer and try again tomorrow). They won't do this twice though.
