Best layout for our house?

Hello
I usually stick to the os board but thought I'd venture out today for a bit of interior design advice! My husband and I live in a tiny 1909 terrace and though its beautiful, the size is a bit of an issue. I've tried to draw a sketch of the layout (but i'm on the iPad, so it's a bit awful...) which is at http://s1069.photobucket.com/albums/u467/lauraturnbull92/?action=view¤t=b82142db.jpg&evt=user_media_share
It shows my current arrangement of furniture downstairs. The room is open plan with the worlds tiniest kitchen and a total sq footage of only about 30m max. We don't have any money to move the kitchen, much as we'd like to. We plan on a proper remodel in the near future but until then, does anyone have any suggestions as to how the layout could be improved?
Thanks in advance for any words of wisdom!
Note - there is a large window on the front wall parallel with the sofa and a back door between the kitchen and stairs.

What about a fold down table?0

Not sure how your house fronts onto the street but could the porch go?0

It doesn't look bad to me.
Any problems you're finding?
Only thing that occurs to me is that you could make it feel more open by turning the sofa ninety degrees and moving it back against the wall at the bottom of your drawing. Then put the TV into the corner by the chimney breast (below the chimney breast on your pic). TV more into the corner and sofa facing into the living area so it's easier to chat to someone at the table or in the kitchen.
If that'd fit.
As an aside, what iPad app did you use for your drawing? Just got an iPad.

The apps called Doodle Buddy, but it's a bit glitchy I'd like a better one. I'm actually quite the artist but you wouldn't think it to look at that drawing!

The kitchen bench that's closest to the sofa has a breakfast bar thing that sticks out, so I can't really put anything there. I don't like it as a breakfast bar so generally my dog sleeps near there.
The problem is just the feeling of being sort of cramped. The table's a bit too close to the wall for the diners sitting on that side but I would never consider having say a folding or smaller table as we have dinner parties around once a week.
I just don't know what to do with the place! It's such a jumble. I can't wait until we have the money to open it all out properly. We're going to have freestanding cottage kitchen pieces and a stone floor throughout with area rugs to seperate different bits.

What is the dimensions of the room? Is the chimney essentially halfway back?0

6 by 5 meters at the widest points probably. Don't know what you mean about the chimney?happily married since

L shaped sofa at bottom right in the corner. TV on wall of chimney breast.
Change square table for a round one - easier to sqeeze past with no hard corners.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -
most of the chimney breast is in the kitchen, so a tv on the wall is not really possible. Our current tv isn't a flat screen, but is huge, so we can't really mount it anywhere. Another note is that our sofa is brand new because our old corner sofa was too big for the room. It's a small (2 seated) one from ikea and that's all we can really fit
