I was there in 2003, went with easyjet. Not sure how far away the airport is, but I believe that the matro/underground opened a new link after I visited. Shouldn't be too much trouble to get into the centre of the city.0

Do this regularly. The new airport is approximately 20 miles from the city centre.
There are several options in getting there:
1. Taxi (expensive but convenient) - will cost about 25 euros. I only ever take one if work is paying !
2. The new metro. Costs about double the bus, but takes half the time. Not 24 hours.
3. Bus (our preferred option). Costs E3, departs every 20 minutes and takes around an hour depending on the traffic. The X95 goes to Syntagma Square in the middle of Athens, the X94 goes to a metro station and the X96 goes to Pireaus port via the sea front. Catch them outside departures (out of the door turn right), buy the ticket from a ticket booth. Validate the ticket when you get on the bus. Runs 24 hours.
