Not sure what to make of this, probably have to cut my losses and accept it!

Hi All
I bought a couple of items from a seller last Saturday - they were listed separately so I asked the seller if she would combine postage. She replied and asked if I would pay for the original postage given and then when she had posted the items and seen what they cost to post she would refund me the extra I had paid. She posted on Monday and the items arrived on Tuesday (V pleased with fast service) so I messaged her on Tuesday night and said they had arrived and that I was pleased and as the postage label had indicated less than she had originally quoted for one item could I please now ask for the postage refund for the multiple items? (Obviously taking into account her added costs for packing materials etc) She messaged me back and said she was too busy to refund that day, she would do it later in the evening and quote 'my life isn't all about ebay at the minute so I'll do it when I can' - I was pretty amused by the quote but took it in good humour and messaged back with an all fine and no problem reply saying I understood. Still no refund by today so I messaged her again about an hour ago and just politely asked again....no rush of course but as it had been a few days I just wondered whether she would honour our agreement - got a reply about 2 minutes later as follows:
'I haven't forgotten your refund - don't know why you are emailing me again - I haven't had time and have gone away for the weekend now. I'll do it next week sometime - don't bother messaging me again you won't get your refund any quicker by giving me grief!'
To be honest I'm a little upset..... My message to her was certainly not in any way rude, pushy or 'giving her grief' I am now thinking that perhaps I won't be getting my postage refund. I know I was naive and silly to pay the full amount and trust her to refund me and to be honest I also know that by buying the items I entered into a deal with her and other than her word she owes me nothing. I suppose I assumed she would be more open to the combined postage than she turned out to be (and perhaps that to keep a customer happy she might follw the deal through). I am still waiting to leave feedback and my husband says she has been rude to me and I should leave neutral but to be honest I guess she has fulfilled all her seller requirements. What do you think?

I'd be tempted to give her a negative anyway...

I would also be tempted to leave a negative (with 1* for Communication and P+P charges) ...fair enough if she'd say no to the discount straight away, she isn't obliged to give one although it would be nice, but to lead you on with false promises and then fob you off with excuses is a bad seller in my book.

Although I would wait until the end of next week, just in case she does decide to get round to it, although it's not looking likely!
If it's any consolation, at least you can feel slightly pleased about the fact that she's had to pay extra paypal fees for using separate invoices ;)

I would also leave a negative, there really is no need to be rude.

since she is rude and appears to be leading you on I would neg her how long do you have left to leave feedback, I could issue you some money in the same amount of time it would take me telling you I am not able to do it at the moment. I dont think you are going to get anything back from her

  • She is an awful seller: for 2 valid reasons
    1. She said she would refund you when she knew the £ amount. She did not do this.
    2. Her communication with you is horrendus

In your position I would leave her negative feedback stating that she lied to you and was rude.

The fact that she did not refund you in the evening when she said she would is a lie. Specifically because her reasoning for not doing so is that she's going away for the weekend (i.e. she was not taken ill or something)

You should also contact Paypal to get your refund. You have messages which are sufficient evidence that she owes you a refund and has not done so.

It can be upsetting when things like this happen, but you have to stand up for yourself and what you are entitled to. Good luck!

Don't think this would work, paypal don't tend to get involved with postage disputes as far as I'm aware.

and as the postage label had indicated less than she had originally quoted for one item

Incidentally this bit also annoys me. The combined items cost less to send than what she charged for one?? No wonder she doesn't want to refund, she must be making a fortune on these rip-off postage charges!!

I'd leave a neg for each item! Something like "seller promised refund of over-estimated postage, but v rude when politely reminded".

I think I'd rather leave the negs than get the postage refunded, as I hate rude people!

No, I am not perfect, but yes I do judge people on their use of basic English language. If you didn't know the above, then learn it! (If English is your second language, then you are forgiven!)

She could have refunded you in the time its taken to email you with excuses. A deal is a deal.

I would email them, Sorry for asking you to fulfil your side of the deal, You may now keep the postage it "MAY" make up for the lost future sales.

    Then NEG and low stars.

Dont mention feedback or leaving a negative though...
