the place i am doing exams with does not know as I am a private candidate.
It is a 3 hour exam on the 21st may.
But noone said what book it is I am meant to read or anything like that but there is no coursework. Is it just general reading and writing because nowhere does it say what book to study.

IGCSEs are far more stringent than GCSEs so you may well struggle with it.
I Googled "IGCSE English Language Syllabus" and found this.

it is ok i looked up past papers. no book required. It is just reading and answering from what you read on the question book.
Which is ok because I am pretty good at spelling and grammar when it comes down to it.0 -
Who arranged for you to sit the exam there?
I'd be a little concerned if I had no idea of the exam board or syllabus... :cool:0 -
your exasm slip should have a code on which will give you a syllabusDon’t put it down - put it away!

Just remember that sentences need verbs, clauses don't; and that we don't start sentences with conjunctions or relative pronouns.A kind word lasts a minute, a skelped erse is sair for a day.0 -

Sorry to nit pick but clauses also need verbs, otherwise they're just phrases.:)0 -

Have you checked that your school is an accredited exam centre for the IGCSE? If not, you need to find somewhere and fast, as there are deadlines for applying to be one. My son did IGCSE English and I'm pretty sure he sat more than one exam, have you checked with the exam board for the dates of the papers?0

What exam board are you sitting? I've checked the CIE site and there is no English exam on the 21st:
http://www.cie.org.uk/docs/profiles/exams_officers/Cambridge%20Zone%203%20Final%20June%202012%20Timetable.pdf
Edexcel dont have an English IGCSE on the 21st:

Are you sure you've got your dates right?0 -
