Shop claiming 25 debit card payments in one day.

Apologies if this is the wrong forum but I am after a bit of advice please.
I have a local corner type shop which I use around once a week. Normally paying cash but I have used my card in the past. I wake up today, check my online statement and see 25 transactions debiting my account from last week, to the local store.
Alarm bells immeadiately ring and I call the banks fraud department.
While waiting for them to call me back I have fully checked back through my statements and have noticed that this shop has never debited any money from my account!! Not one card payment has ever left, since I moved into the area(June 2011). The fraud team eventually called me back and were concerned as to why this has happened. Every single payment was processed through a chip and pin terminal at just after midnight(the shop closes at 9pm).
Now I know I have been a bit daft and that I should have kept track on my ingoings and outgoings but surely 9 months ago is completely excessive to wait to claim the funds?? The bank said they might have done it to avoid paying fees for having a card terminal???!! I am completely clueless, I am £300 overdrawn and the bank are threatening me with a £25 paid item fee per transaction!!! £750!! Are they having a laugh???
Please, please advise me as best as you can.
