OS Bake Sale???

Hi folks. We're having a charity bake sale in work and we've all been asked to contribute something. As there's only a few of us I was going to do two or three things hopefully. I'm already helping with the prizes and games so was hoping to keep the baking as cheap and easy as possible.
I'll definately be doing tablet as that's the only thing I have perfected and a few people have requested it . I'm looking for ideas what else to do. We have a lot of golden syrup, value porridge oats and condensed milk in the house so I was thinking of flapjacks but have never done them before.
Any suggestions would be much appreciated

I was going to suggest traybakes, I've done a couple of Mary Berry's in particular the Iced Gingerbread goes down a real treat.
A really "tooth-rotting" recipe I found lurking away in my mothers cookbook from years ago think it could have been a 1970's Womans Weekly, is Crispy Fudge Square's
Base = 2oz butter, 2oz caramels or toffees, 2oz rice crispies
Fudge = 2oz butter, 4 tblsps water, 2 level tblsps golden syrup, 1lb granulated sugar, 8 level tblsps condensed milk.
Melt the butter and caramels/toffees in a saucepan over a gentle heat, add the rice crispies, mix well. Turn into a well buttered tin, approx 11 x 7 x 1 inch tin and press down well.
Place all the fudge ingredients in a large heavy based saucepan (needs to be quite deep as it bubbles up quite a bit). heat over a moderate heat, stirring until the sugar has dissolved, bring to the boil. Boil gently for 10mins - DO NOT STIR.
Remove from the heat and beat well for about 5mins or until the mixture begins to fudge. Quickly spread over the crispies leave until cold then cut into 1 inch squares.0 -
We have a cake stall at church every month.Things like millionaire's shortbread sell well but are fairly expensive to make.
Iced cakes can be awkward to carry home unless you have a supply of cake boxes which are not particulary cheap.
People don't always want a large cake. If you are prepacking slices of cake or buns just put a couple in each package.I have some cellophane bags from Lakeland and often put four or six cookies in one bag and tie the top with ribbon.
Sometimes I make apple pies or pear and almond tarts in small foil dishes-about four inches wide.0 -
if you do make flapjacks, my tip would be to take them out before they look done - they stick together and firm up as they cool, so if you leave them in the oven until they get brown they'll be rigid and break teeth!0

If you are doing so much CHEAT - buy the really cheap fairy cakes that cost about £1 for 12 from the supermarket, make a big batch of butter cream for piping, flavour and colour and decorate imaginatively as cupcakes. They sell for more than traybakes. As the cakes come in those plastic trays they are easy to transport.
Favourites are chocolate orange - chocolate fairy cake, topped with butter cream with orange and chocolate, topped with a segment of chocolate orange. If you have edible glitter a wee sprinkle finishes off nicely.
You can do some in your local footlball team colours and pop on one of those little foil covered football sweets, popular with boys.
You can also do lilac ones with parma violets and cherry ones with cherry lips, even cholcolate again but with smarties or chocolate M n M's

A basic madeira mixture can easily be used to make a marble cake. Easy as pie to make and very pretty. Or just throw some tired sliced apples or any other fruit you have hanging around and make an upside-down cake. Plums are good like that. The answer to all of your biscuit requirements is Twinks Hobnobs: that way you can use the oats and golden syrup.0
