Hole in ceiling

Last year a friend of mine kindly installed my bathroom. In the process he put his foot through my kitchen ceiling (it's underneath bathroom). Do I get a plasterer or just a diy guy to do a quote? Does anyone know how much this could cost? The hole is about 6 inches in diameter.

Well, I had just changed insurance company and couldn't make a claim. I suppose it's too late to make one now.

a diy chap or maybe the man who did the damage?

why not do it yourself? fairly simple job.

Really? I would love to have a go but wouldn't know where to start. Are there any website that I could look at?
