In july 2008 i lost my job, in march 2009 i bit the bullet and declared myself bankrupt. sinse then my circumstances have improved ive got a new, well paid job and started a family. But with family comes extra expenses so the question is... is it at all possible to get a loan or credit card while still having the bankruptcy on my credit report??? Barring in mind ive still been able to take out a new mobile phone contract, Virgin XL package and open savings accounts after being told i wouldnt be able to.

Wow! Really?...I tried to get a new phone with new contract at xmas, and was refused, because I'd moved and hadn't updated my experian details (which earned me a low credit score) even though I'd been with the phone company for over ten years.
It's amazing how inconsistent the whole credit system really is. I had trouble getting a bank account after being BR over 17yrs ago. I suppose really you just have to ask the institutions, etc if they say 'no', they say 'no' but if not, you'll get what you want. Some you'll win, and others... well, you know. It all comes down to how/IF you get asked "Have you ever been made BR", and how you replyHistory Teaches Us That, History Doesn't Teach Us0 -
I would expect that vanquis or granite mite allow you a credit card. The norm is a 250 credit limit to start, but you will need to pay it off in full every month to avoiid the high interest charges. As for a loan, cant help..... Have got the vanquis card but havent bothered with anything else.BSC member 137
